The Government Degree College Khansahib celebrated Teachers Day – 2021 on 9th September 2021. The programme was organized by Department of Education in collaboration with college Debates & Seminar Committee. Dr. Shabir Ahmad, Assistant Professor of Kashmiri and anchor for the event gave some introductory remarks on Teachers Day celebrations in India.
An audio of college tarana was played for the audience. Thereafter, our students spoke on different relevant themes: Ashina Yaseen on ‘Qualities of a Good Teacher’, Insha Hamid on ‘Role of a Teacher: An Islamic Perspective’, Insha Mushtaq on ‘An Ideal Teacher’ and Naveedul Amin on ‘Reverence and Role of a Teacher’. Another student Ms Misbah Gull read-out a poem titled ‘A Teacher’. Prof Zaffar Shadad Khan, a senior faculty member, in his keynote address, spoke on history & significance of Teacher Day celebrations in India.
At the end, Dr. Syed Tanvir Indrabi, Principal GDC Khansahib, delivered the special address. In a philosophical tenor, he dwelt on the purpose of creation and role of a teacher in nurturing & moulding the human civilization. Dr. Indrabi said: “Teaching is a noble profession and a teacher must exhibit an unwavering commitment towards the moral and intellectual development of his/her students”. He ended his speech with a personal quote: “Teacher demands and deserves to be innocent for teaching being a prophetic profession”.
