Skill Course on ‘Self Employed Tailor’successfully concludes at Govt. Degree College Khansahib

Certificate & Sewing Machine Distribution ceremony was held on 30 December 2021

On 30thDecember 2021, an award ceremony was held on the successful completion of ‘Self Employed Tailor’ course at GDC Khansahib. The course was introduced at the institution in collaboration with Knack Millennials Private Limited, a registered non-governmental company in Jammu & Kashmir. The award ceremony was attended by students, their parents, faculty members, members from Knack Millennials and a member of the District Development Council 6-Khansahib Budgam, Mr. Bashir Ahmad Bhat.

 

In his inaugural address college Dr. Syed Tanvir Indrabi expressed satisfaction over the completion of the course and thanked the students, faculty, Knack Millennials and all other stakeholders who contributed its success.In his customary style he reminded the impressionable students about a powerful couplet from Dr. Iqbal:

 

Manzil Se Aage Badh Kar Manzil Talaash Kar

Mil Jaaye Tujhko Dariya To SamandarTalaash Kar

He further said: “I joined this institution on 18th January 2021. I fixed some targets to be accomplished during the year and I am satisfied in their realisation. I have nurtured some dreams for the year 2022. I desire to work and give concrete shape to them. I believe in making this institution a very attractive and competitive place for academics.” Dr. Indrabi further announced that all those students who undertook the skill course on ‘Self Employed Tailor’ will be given certificates and 28 meritorious & deserving candidates will be handed over sewing machines as well. Besides, financial aid to the needy students is about to be credited into their accounts. Narrating the example of his mother who used to run poultry form in 1970s, earn a handsome amount, he urged students to make use of every possible avenue to get over the financial dependence and scourge of unemployment. For overcoming the electricity shortages with the provision of essential power supply to the institution, he demanded help and intervention from the hon’ble DDC member, the latter gracefully acquiesced.

In his address to the audience Mr. Bashir Ahmad Bhat was all praise for the beautification, administration and academics at the college and thanked the Chair and faculty members for development of the institution. He requested the college administration to develop a symbiotic relationship with all educational institutions in the area. Apart from the essential power supply for the institution he assured to make every possible effort for construction of a passenger shed, parking slot, and other basic amenities within the campus.

 

After this, three of our students spoke on different themes concerning women empowerment: Ms Danisha Qadir on ‘Education of Women’, Ms Insha Mushtaq on ‘Women Empowerment’ and Ms Muskaan on ‘We are Women’ respectively.

 

Finally, certificate distribution ceremony was held. Ms. Bisma from Knack Millennials announced the names of candidates and certificates were handed-over to them by Dr. Syed Tanvir Indrabi, Mr. Bashir Ahmad Bhat and senior faculty members. Subsequently, coupons were also given to those candidates who had been selected as proprietors of sewing machines.

 

The programme was moderated by Mr. Aqeb Manzoor, Assistant Professor of Arabic at GDC Khansahib.

 

Senior faculty member Dr. Bashir Ahmad Dar presented the vote of thanks.

 

After completion of this ceremony Dr. Syed Tanvir Indrabi, accompanied by faculty members, inaugurated two browsing centres for boys and girls established on the first floor of main college block.
